Elevate for Humanity Career & Technical Institute is a DOL Registered Apprenticeship Sponsor, Indiana ETPL-listed workforce training provider, and Certiport Authorized Testing Center operating under 2Exclusive LLC-S. Industry certifications are issued by the respective credentialing bodies (CompTIA, NHA, EPA, NCCCO, etc.) upon passing the required exams — these are the same credentials employers hire for. Training may be fully funded for eligible participants through WIOA, Workforce Ready Grant, JRI, and approved workforce partners; eligibility is determined by the applicable agency. Elevate for Humanity Career & Technical Institute is a workforce training organization, not a degree-granting postsecondary institution under the Indiana Department of Education — our programs lead to industry certifications and employment, not academic degrees.

Training to Employment Pathway

How this program connects instruction, credentialing, employers, and wages — the sequence workforce boards use to evaluate programs.

  1. Step 1 · Training

    52 weeks · Flexible — 15–20 hrs/week (OJT at host shop + RTI online)

  2. Step 2 · Credential

Indiana Barber License (Indiana State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners)

  3. Step 3 · Experience

Paid on-the-job training with employer host

  4. Step 4 · Employer pathway

Introductions to partners including Elevate Prestige Barber and Beauty Institute

  5. Step 5 · Entry role & wage

    Licensed Barber · $30K–$45K

  6. Step 6 · Advancement

    Licensed Barber (Employer-set)

Employment is not guaranteed. Outcomes depend on individual performance, credential attainment, and local labor market conditions.

How it works

From application to licensed barber

This is a 52-week DOL registered apprenticeship — not a short course. You train on the shop floor, study online, and move toward Indiana licensure with a clear step-by-step path.

  1. 1

    Apply (free)

Submit the apprentice application. There is no tuition charge at this step — we review readiness and funding options with you.

  2. 2

    Host shop match

We place you with a licensed Indiana barbershop for on-the-job training (OJT). You earn wages while you learn in the chair.

  3. 3

    RTI + daily theory

Complete Related Technical Instruction online (500 hours). Pass the daily theory quiz (70% minimum) before OJT hours count for credit.

  4. 4

    2,000 hours & checkpoints

Track 1,500 OJT hours at your host shop plus 500 RTI hours. Supervisors sign off competencies as you progress through each module.

  5. 5

    State exam & license

When hours and RTI are complete, sit for the Indiana Barber License written and practical exams. Graduate with a DOL apprenticeship certificate.

Self-pay tuition is $4,980 when workforce funding does not apply — use the payment calculator below for deposit and weekly plan options, or compare BNPL providers.

Daily theory requirement

Theory quiz required every training day (70% to pass)

Complete your assigned theory lesson and pass the daily quiz before RTI hours count for that calendar day.

  • Each training day, complete the theory reading and daily quiz in Elevate LMS before related instruction (RTI) hours are credited for that date.
  • You must score at least 70% on the daily theory quiz. You may retake the quiz until you pass.
  • If you do not pass the daily theory quiz, no RTI/theory hours are credited for that calendar day (shop OJT may still be recorded separately per your host agreement).
  • Your host shop supervisor and Elevate instructor see the same weekly syllabus module — bookwork on LMS matches the theory topic your shop is reinforcing.

Barber Apprenticeship apprentices complete bookwork in Elevate LMS. Open apprentice portal to start today's theory.
